Yotam Knispel is a screenwriter, director and lecturer,
born in Denmark and raised in Israel.
Nominated twice for an Israeli Academy Award for two of his recent short films LOVE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT (2023), which screened in over 40 international film festivals and won 18 awards, and
GIRL WITH A FORK IN A WORLD OF SOUP (2019), which won BEST SHORT FILM at Jerusalem Film Festival and screened in more than 20 international film festivals.
In 2024, he debuted his first feature film as a screenwriter in the documentary-animated film KAFKA'S LAST TRIAL.
During that year, he also won two writing grants for his feature films EXPORT and DON'T FORGET FLORA - both currently in development.
In 2023, he directed INVISIBLE ALBUM, a five-episode musical web series.
His first international co-production, BAMBINA (2016) was filmed at the prestigious TERRE DI CINEMA workshop in Sicily and won various awards in over 40 film festivals.
His short film DROP (2015) was screened in over 50 film festivals and won 10 awards.
Drawn to tell surrealistic stories that take place in realistic worlds, by exploring the boundaries of gender identity, loneliness, longing and belonging, inner worlds, desires and freedom.
Honored by writing grants and filmmaking residencies in Europe and the USA and directed music videos for prominent Israeli musicians like Acollective, The White Screen, Omer Moskovich and Tomer Yeshayahu.
Currently working on his first feature film.
